Comet C/2014 E2 Jacques and the open cluster NGC 609: 22 Aug. 2014

On its journey across the stars, comet c/2014 E2 Jacques is apparently meeting several deep sky objects. We managed to capture a snapshot of the comet while it was in the same sky spot as NGC 609, a compact, rich open cluster in Cassiopeia.

The image above is a single 60-seconds exposure, remotely taken with the  17″ robotic unit part of the Virtual Telescope. The telescope tracked the stars, so the exposure could not be longer

The image scale is 1.2″/pixel.
