Comet C/2021 A1 Leonard: online observation – 8 Dec. 2021
Next 8 Dec. 2021, our Earth will cross the orbital plane of comet C/2021 A1 Leonard. This will offer special conditions to spot this icy world, hopefully becoming naked-eye around that date. See this beautiful object live, online, from the comfort of your home.
At last, comet C/2021 A1 Leonard is ready to show at its best. Discovered at the beginning of the year, it immediately looked very promising, with potential naked eye visibility next December. Over the last weeks, its brightness increased in the right way, supporting – so far! – those hopes. Also, the relative positions among the Earth, the comet and the Sun could trigger an even better show – and easy naked eye visibility.
On 8 Dec., in particular, the Earth will the comet’s orbital plane, with chances to see the anti-tail feature. This is why we scheduled our live feed on that day!
The free, online observing session is scheduled for 8 Dec. 2021, starting at 04:00 UTC.
