“Milky Way Deep-Sky Treasures”: on online event for the Milky Way Star Festival – 8 Aug. 2022
Get set to celebrate our home galaxy, the Milky Way! Based on the annual, traditional Tanabata festival held across Japan every summer, Astronomers Without Borders will be holding its own very special online Milky Way Star Festival that will look at our Milky Way through global cultural stories, contemporary art, observational science and astrophotography from many parts of the world. The Virtual Telescope Project supports this amazing idea offering a live online, guided tour of some of the Milky Way’s many deep sky treasures.
Here it is the podcast from the live feed
The “Milky Way Deep-Sky Treasures” live tour will start on 8 Aug. 2022, at 21:30 UTC. The tour guide will be Gianluca Masi, Virtual Telescope Project’s founder, astrophysicist and science communicator. Gianluca serves as National Coordinator for AWB in Italy.
We will explore the most spectacular “Citizen” of our Cosmic City, like the stunning Messier 13 globular cluster, the elegant “Ring” and the iconic “Dumb-bell” nebulas. Of course we will spy places where stars are boring, having a look to our Solar System, too.
The live feed is scheduled for 08 Aug 2022, starting at 21:30 UTC. In case oc cloudy weather, archive images will be used.
