Supernova SN 2022osg in CGCG 373-018 galaxy: a image – 31 July 2022.
We observed the supernova SN 2022osg in the galaxy CGCG 373-018, as part of our supernova follow-up program: here it is our image.
The image above comes from the average of eight, 120-second exposures, unfiltered, remotely taken with the “Elena” (PlaneWave 17″+Paramount ME+SBIG STL-6303E) robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project. The supernova is indicated by an arrow in the upper left inset.
The host galaxy is CGCG 373-018, a galaxy located at about 150 millions of light years. As for the supernova, we estimated SN 2022osg as bright as mag. 16.0 (unfiltered, R-mags for the reference stars from the Gaia DR2 star catalogue). This transient was discovered on 12 July 2022 by ZTF survey and it is a type Ia supernova.
