Ceres “meets” NGC 4654: online event – 26 Feb. 2023
On 26 Feb. 2023, the dwarf planet (1) Ceres will shine apparently close to the beautiful spiral galaxy NGC 4654, offering a nice view. We will show this cosmic “meeting” live, online.
+ Updates: because of heavy rain, this event is regretfully cancelled +
While moving across space, the dwarf planet Ceres, discovered on 1 Jan. 1801 and classified as an asteroid until 2006, will transit in the same spot of the sky where the beautiful galaxy NGC 4654 is. Of course, it is just matter of perspective: Ceres will be at about 250 millions of km from us, while NGC 4654 is at about 55 million light years away.
We will bring to you this beautiful event live, online, so that you can join the journey from the comfort of your home.
The live feed is scheduled for 26 Feb. 2023, starting at 03:30 UTC.
