Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks: a new image – 14 Feb. 2024
We present another image of comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, displaying a continuously evolving tail.
The image above comes from the sigma clipping combination of 10, 120-second unfiltered exposures, taken with the ARTEC250+Paramount ME+C3Pro61000EC robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy. At hte imaging time, a bright Moon was in the sky. A nice, faint tail is visible, spanning for more than 1.5 degrees.
We will continue monitoring comet 12P/Pons-Brooks over the next weeks, as it approaches its perihelion, next 21 April.
