T Coronae Borealis and asteroid (2) Pallas conjunction: image of the event and time-lapse – 24 June 2024.

Despite the crazy weather, we succeeded capturing the peak of the conjunction involving the Blaze Star (T Coronae Borealis) and asteroid (2) Pallas, here it is our image and a time-lapse.

The image above comes from a single 120-second unfiltered exposure, taken with the ARTEC250+Paramount ME+C3Pro61000EC robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy. The sky was very cloudy, we were lucky ky to have an handful of minutes of affordable weather and captured the image above, then clouds were back till dawn.

Both T CrB and Pallas are properly indicated. At the imaging take they were less than 1/4rd of a degree apart.

T Coronae Borealis is the well known recurrent nova expected to erupt in a few months, while (2) Pallas is the second asteroid to be discovered in 1802

We will show this conjunction at its peak, next 24 June 2024!
