Comet 13P/Olbers: an image – 24 July 2024
We imaged again comet 13P/Olbers, while it recedes from its recent perihelion.
The image above comes from the sigma clipping combination of 11, 120-second unfiltered exposures, remotely taken with the “Elena” (PlaneWave 17″ + Paramount MEII + SBIG STL-6303E) robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy. The telescope tracked the object while imaging, which was just 20 deg. above the Western horizon. Twilight.
