Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS: new image – 30 Nov. 2024
Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is constantly fading and now it is getting harder to spot, because of the dense Milky Way on the background.
The image above comes from the sigma clipping combination of 5, 120-second exposures, remotely taken with the ARTEC250+Paramount ME+C3Pro61000EC robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Manciano, Italy, under the darkest skies of the Italian peninsula (SQM=21.5). The telescope tracked at the motion rates of the comet.
Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS continues to cross a very dense region of stars and dust, in Aquila. As it is evident image after image, the object is clearly fading and the rich starry background is making harder and harder to note the comet itself.
We will continue monitoring C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS as long as possible.
