Mars 2025: the Red Planet at its closest & opposition: online observation – 12 & 16 Jan. 2025.
Mars, the legendary Red Planet, is back, right now showing at its best and brightest. The Virtual Telescope Project will show it live: join us online, from the comfort of your home!
Next 12 Jan. 2024, at 14:00 UTC, Mars will be at its minimum distance from the Earth, about 96 million of km. This is the shortest distance since Dec. 2022. A few days later, on 16 Jan., it will reach the so-called opposition, peaking in brightness. The Virtual Telescope Project will offer two free, online observing sessions on both those dates, to share with you the beauty and charm of the Red Planet.
These two live feeds are scheduled for 12 & 16 Jan. 2025, both starting at 20:00 UT.
