Here we present supernova SN 2025qe in the beautiful spiral galaxy IC 529.

The image above comes from the average of 7, 120-second, unguided exposures, unfiltered, remotely taken with the (PlaneWave 17″ + Paramount MEII + SBIG STL-6303E)  robotic unit available as part of the Virtual Telescope Project in Manciano, Italy. The supernova is indicated by an arrow in the upper left insert.

We estimated SN 2025qe as bright as mag. 15.6 (R-mags for the reference stars from the Gaia DR2 star catalogue). SN 2025qe was discovered on 18 Jan. 2025 and it is a type Ia supernova.

The host galaxy is IC 529, a spiral galaxy located at about 100 million light years from us.
