Venus, Mercury and the Moon: memories from 2010
This January, Venus and Mercury provided a great view at sunset, pairing in the same corner of the sky. This nice opportunity arises from time to time and one of the best ones was in 2010. At that time, not only Venus and Mercury provided a memorable show, but also the Moon decided to jump into the scene, for an even more amazing experience.
The image above was taken on 15 April 2010, at sunset. A very young Moon was just setting, with Mercury on its upper left and the bright Venus dominating the scenery from above. All of them were above the Lepini Mounts, visible from the Virtual Telescope site. These events prove how beautiful mother nature and the sky are: we must try to discover and enjoy again the wonderful universe where we live, with planet Earth being just a grain of dust.
