Near-Earth Asteroid 2023 DZ2 very close encounter: online observation – 25 Mar. 2023
Next 25 Mar. 2023, the near-Earth asteroid 2023 DZ2 will have a very close, but safe, encounter with us, coming at about 173000 km from the Earth, less than one-half of the average lunar distance. The Virtual Telescope Project will show it to you live!

The near-Earth asteroid 2023 DZ2 was discovered on 27 Feb. 2023 and announced on 16 Mar. 2023. Its diameter in estimated in the 44 – 99 meters range, while the minimum distance will be reached on 25 Mar. 2023, at 19:52 UTC (source: Nasa/JPL). The significant size of this object will make it easy to observe with good binoculars and small telescopes a few hours before the fly-by.
The Virtual Telescope Project will show it live, online, a few hours after the close encounter, while already leaving us. This way, you can have a look from the comfort of your home.
