Potentially hazardous asteroid (99942) Apophis
After its relatively close encounter with our planet (at 15 millions of km from the Earth) , potentially hazardous asteroid (99942) Apophis was imaged again at the Virtual Telescope, using the 17″ robotic unit, to collect more astrometric data. The telescope tracked Apophis, so the object looks as a point of light, while the stars are trailing on the background. An exposure of 5 minutes was used.
